Previous and Ongoing Initiatives
As President Cathy Sandeen identifies the university's emergent priorities for the current year, this Previous Initiatives page will keep the summaries, documents and Task Force members, as well as outcomes for any previous and ongoing projects. For questions about these initiatives, please email the Office of the President at president@
AFFINITY-BASED STUDENT SUCCESS AND RESOURCE CENTERS
In a step to provide targeted support to address equity and graduation rates as part of Graduation Initiative 2025, President Cathy Sandeen announced on Feb. 24, 2021 that Â鶹´«Ã½ÉçÇøÈë¿Ú will establish three new student success centers: Black Student Success Center, Latinx Student Success Center, and an Undocumented Student Resource Center.
FACULTY AND STAFF HOUSING
Looking for recommendations and solutions, a Faculty and Staff Task Force convened in 2019 to explore and recommend tangible steps the university can take to provide access to more affordable housing options.
POST-COVID OPPORTUNITY SCAN
The Post-COVID Opportunity Scan is a brainstorming and planning initiative in which our operations and lessons learned during the COVID-19 would be examined for practices that could be retained during normal operations.
PULSO
The Partnership for University Latine/x Success & Opportunity (PULSO) is a representative group of staff and faculty members working to identify intentional practices and ways to serve Latinx students. This team will review current Latinx-serving programs and services, identify unmet Latinx student needs, and propose intentional responses to gaps.
SCALING CAREER SERVICES TASK FORCE
Ensuring that our students have access to robust career information and career placement support is part of our mission. Positioning our students for success in post-graduation job placement will have lifetime economic benefits for our graduates and will solidify Â鶹´«Ã½ÉçÇøÈë¿Ú’s role in supporting the regional workforce. As such, this Task Force has been established to explore increasing career service offerings to our students which aims to grow and strengthen relationships with regional employers.
SWEET
The Staff Wellness, Enrichment and Engagement Team (SWEET) is an administrative committee that focuses on enhancing staff engagement, wellness, and belonging by sponsoring a regular schedule of educational and social activities.
WORKING PROFESSIONAL RECRUITMENT AND SERVICE TASK FORCE
Given recent enrollment trends, it's imperative that we more proactively reach out to nontraditional students, beyond high school and community college transfer students. Working professionals comprise a significant segment of our population so this task force has been established to explore more proactive and systematic recruitment strategies to ensure programs and services are designed to cater to working professionals.
