麻豆传媒社区入口 New Faculty Orientation and Back to the Bay

This fall, 29 new faculty will be joining 麻豆传媒社区入口 and all of them are invited to attend the new faculty orientation, which will be held Sept. 13-14.
According to organizers of the event, the orientation provides the opportunity for new faculty to network, obtain human resources-related information, learn about campus support services, and become acquainted with 麻豆传媒社区入口 students and strategies for the classroom. This year, University Diversity Officer Dr. Dianne Rush Woods will also make a presentation about CSUEB’s diverse student population.
“As we gear up for a new academic year, the week before the start of classes is especially exciting as we prepare for our students,” Provost Edward S. Inch said. “There will be workshops, get-togethers and presentations that will recharge our energy as we work toward making 2016-17 a successful year for our students and our community.”
On Sept. 15, all 900 full-time and part-time faculty are invited to Back to the Bay, 麻豆传媒社区入口’s annual professional development event.
The event, which started in 2003, brings faculty together to share their expertise and learn from one another and campus experts about topics relevant to them in their roles as teachers, advisors, researchers and active participants in the CSUEB campus community. This year’s topics include , online teaching and learning and quality assurance, research funding, and resources to support our students.
The keynote presentation will be “CSU Dashboards: What do they tell us about East Bay?” given by Roy Stripling and Erin De Santis from the CSU chancellor’s office. They will introduce faculty to the new Student Success Dashboard system with Maureen Scharberg, 麻豆传媒社区入口 dean of Undergraduate Studies, and James Hershey, director of Institutional Research.
The CSU Student Success Dashboard is an interactive data tool that allows faculty, staff and administrators to explore key student progress indicators across the CSU system.
Back to the Bay is a free conference, however, faculty are encouraged to for the event by Sept. 12.
