麻豆传媒社区入口鈥檚 Interim Provost Receives Special Honor

麻豆传媒社区入口 Interim Provost Carolyn Nelson was honored at the ’s 45th anniversary celebration of service. The recognition on April 30 at Mills College’s Lokey School of Business was for Nelson’s work as principal investigator for the initiative.
“I am honored to receive this award from Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center,” Nelson said. “It is a privilege to have them as one of our key partners in the Hayward Promise Neighborhood. They are an organization that is making a significant difference in our community by improving access to quality healthcare for our families.”
TVHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides free and low-cost health care to hundreds of uninsured Alameda County residents. The center has multiple locations that integrate primary care, dental care, WIC support, mental health counseling and community health education in one location for easy patient access.
TVHC partners with Hayward Promise Neighborhood to conduct intensive training for community health volunteers to perform outreach and planning in Hayward. They learn about health topics that include the importance of immunizations, and diabetes, HIV, cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention.
“Through their innovative Promotores Program they provide residents in our community specialized training to become healthcare advocates,” Nelson said. “The Promotores become amazing leaders and networkers in our community to improve healthcare outcomes for our families.”
Nelson was honored alongside Reverend Arlene Nehring, pastor of the Eden United Church of Christ and a community advocate in the Ashland/Cherryland community in unincorporated Alameda County.
