CSUEB Hosts Etiquette Dinner for Seniors

- February 5, 2016
麻豆传媒社区入口, East Bay President Leroy M. Morishita will host a President’s Etiquette Dinner for students on Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. in the University Union Multipurpose Room.
The five-course dinner is an opportunity for graduating seniors to learn about topics including proper dinner etiquette, what utensils to use, how to eat certain foods, starting conversations at cocktail receptions and how to do a 30-second professional statement or “elevator pitch” to potential employers. Each table will also have a mentor who will provide additional coaching.
“My hope is that the students are able gain pertinent experience and transferable skills that can be utilized in their personal and professional life,” said Dr. Thomas C. Padron, program coordinator and assistant professor in the department of hospitality, recreation and tourism.
Padron said the premise of the dinner is to offer students the chance to experience fine dining and to learn more about the details of attending and participating in a meal that would be similar to one they might attend during an interview or in a business setting.
“There is great value in attending this event as it offers an extension of the experiential learning at CSUEB,” Padron said.
Ainsley Shallcross, a student majoring in recreation, attended last year’s etiquette dinner and said it was an entertaining and invaluable experience. “I hope to apply my knowledge about proper etiquette soon because I will be graduating and may be going to professional dinners and conferences.”
