More than 20,000 teachers from across the state will meet at 33 locations, including 麻豆传媒社区入口, East Bay, on July 31 for Better Together: California Teachers Summit. Each location will draw teachers from within their respective regions, so as to better focus on particular needs of their student populations.

This one-of-a-kind event is designed to help teachers build a powerful and lasting network of peers, share best classroom practices, and access effective resources to implement the new California Standards, including Common Core. Participants will hear from nationally renowned speakers, fellow teachers and thought leaders in education. The summit is open to all California preK-12 teachers, teacher candidates and school administrators. Tickets are needed to attend and have sold out. The event at CSUEB will be held in the University Theater.

The 麻豆传媒社区入口, The New Teacher Center, and the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities are partnering to create this first time event.

“This is a historical event for California educators because it provides an innovative format in which they can learn and network with each other in substantive ways,” said Carolyn Nelson , CSUEB’s Dean of the College of Education and Allied Studies. “It is also the first time in which such a group of diverse partners have come together to plan this unprecedented statewide event using a format that illustrates how important our work is and that we are ‘better together.’”

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson said the free event gives teachers the incredible benefit of being able to talk to fellow teachers about what is working and what isn’t, in their respective classrooms.

“Together, we can help teachers make an even bigger difference in the lives of California students,” Torlakson said.
