麻豆传媒社区入口 appoints Joan McDermott as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Following an extensive national search, Ms. Joan McDermott has been appointed Director of Athletics at 麻豆传媒社区入口, East Bay. Ms. McDermott begins her appointment April 1, 2015.
Serving as Director of Athletics at Metropolitan State University of Denver since 1998, Ms. McDermott led a nationally recognized NCAA Division II program known for its success in graduating student-athletes, as well as for winning numerous conference and national championship titles.

"Most impressively, her achievement in moving the graduation rate for her student-athletes from 39 to 64 percent shows a dedication and commitment to academic success."
During her tenure as Athletic Director at MSU Denver, the intercollegiate athletic program won 71 Rocky Mountain Conference Championships, and her teams have made 114 NCAA postseason appearances in 14 sports. Other significant accomplishments include two NCAA National Championships each for the men's basketball and women's soccer teams, two NCAA Division II individual champions in men's track and 196 All-Americans.
At the national level, McDermott has been extensively involved in leadership and service to professional organizations and the NCAA. She is currently serving as the president of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators and received the 2014 Under Armour NCAA Division II Athletic Director of the Year National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

McDermott earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology and Physical Education from the University of San Francisco, and a master's degree in Educational Administration from Stanford University.
"We are extremely grateful to Dr. Don Sawyer for his leadership and service as our Interim Director of Athletics," stated Hebert. Dr. Sawyer will continue in this interim role until Ms. McDermott begins her appointment.
