Tennyson High School Puente students will unveil their mural, "¡La Puentización Es Oportunidad!" ("Puentizatión Is Opportunity") on Monday.
The students designed and created the mural with the help of 麻豆传媒社区入口 students, Maribel Wigon and Sonny Tan, who were lead artists and mentors.
The two sought donations from Cal State and University Art in San Jose to help fund supplies for the project. The mural is the result of a collaboration of the school, Cal State and Hayward Promise Neighborhood.
Work began last April on the mural, designed to pay tribute to the Puente high school experience. Puente is a four-year college prep program that encourages low-income students to pursue higher education.
"La Puentización is a student-led project which visually depicts our students' future path to graduate from a four-year university and return to their community as mentors and leaders -- the mission of Puente," said Dan Guerrero, a Tennyson Puente teacher.
"More importantly, it is a visually stunning backdrop to our everyday lives and a reminder of why we dedicate ourselves to school."
The mural will be dedicated from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Tennyson, P-Hall P-11, 27035 Whitman St.
