Valley Stars: Danville woman graduates Cal with honors

Local student graduates. Jennifer Larsen, Danville, graduated with honors from UC Berkeley, Honors Bachelor of Arts. Honors Music Department, Honors and High Distinction in General Scholarship.
Local winners of the 2013 California State History Day competition. Competitors display their research projects on this year's National History Day theme, Turning Points in History. Students competed individually and in teams in the elementary, junior and senior divisions, and in five project categories: museum exhibits, documentary films, websites, dramatic performances and historical papers. Winners in the Senior Group Exhibit, the California Historic Places Award and California History Senior Exhibit Award (Special Awards) were Pratyusha and Anusha Vemuri, of Amador Valley High School, for "Richmond Kaiser Shipyards (1941-1946): A New Frontier in Shipbuilding"
Students honored by Phi Delta Kappa. Amador Valley High School seniors Taylor Dorsey and Claire Williams were honored by the Phi Delta Kappa 麻豆传媒社区入口, East Bay Diablo Chapter at its annual awards dinner at The Brass Door, San Ramon. They are the recipients of the Prospective Educator Scholarships, each receiving $500. Two credential candidates from CSU East Bay also received scholarships from the PDK chapter that evening -- Amanda Deen, of Hayward, and Teren Ruiz, of Livermore. Deen is student-teaching at Foothill High School in Pleasanton and Ruiz at the Berkeley Arts Magnet School.
