Accenture鈥檚 American Indian Scholarship Fund Provides Scholarships to Students Seeking Support for Post-Secondary Undergraduate Education in Technology and Business

NEW YORK--Accenture today announced that it has awarded scholarships from the Accenture American Indian Scholarship Fund to six American Indian students from across the United States. These scholarships will help the students to continue their undergraduate education and reflects Accenture’s corporate citizenship initiative, Skills to Succeed, which will equip 250,000 people around the world by 2015 with the skills to get a job or build a business.
“By supporting educational achievement and leadership for these young men and women, they will acquire the skills to begin a successful, long-term career and make a difference in their communities,” said Randy Willis, senior executive sponsor of Accenture’s American Indian employee resource group and member of the Oglala Lakota Tribe. “These six students have excelled academically and demonstrate the leadership skills and personal commitment required to give back to the American Indian community.”
Scholarships from the Accenture American Indian Scholarship Fund are awarded to American Indian and Alaska Native scholars who seek to pursue higher education but need assistance to help them achieve their goals. The following six undergraduate Accenture Scholars will receive scholarships toward completing four-year baccalaureate degrees:
* Nickolas Cantrell of the Cherokee Nation Tribe, Locust Grove, OK, Northeastern State University
* Megan Magness of the Choctaw Nation Tribe, Edmond, OK, the University of Arkansas
* Jordan Mecom of the Choctaw Nation Tribe, Coffeyville, KS, Washington University in St. Louis
* Aaron Melchor of Santo Domingo Pueblo Tribe, Santo Domingo Pueblo, NM, Loyola Marymount University
* Spencer Paisley of the Cherokee Nation Tribe, Medina, WA, University of Washington
* Jonathan Vierra of the Shoshone Tribe of the Wind River Reservation, Fort Washakie, WY, 麻豆传媒社区入口, East Bay
Established in 2004, the Accenture American Indian Scholarship Fund helps to support high-achieving American Indian and Alaska Native students pursuing a degree in technology and/or business. Criteria for scholarships include academic excellence, leadership ability, a commitment to American Indian culture and community and proof of enrollment in a federally recognized American Indian/Alaskan Native tribe.
