Schools name finalists in search for superintendents

Central Linn and Sweet Home school districts have each named three finalists in their search for superintendents.Both districts plan to invite the public to meet the candidates this month. Sweet Home’s meeting is tentatively scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the district office board room, and Central Linn’s is at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Central Linn High School.
Sweet Home’s short list includes a Lebanon candidate, Heitho Reuter, currently a private contractor with the Lebanon Community School District. Reuter works with literacy initiatives for older students and develops models for Response to Intervention, a method of academic assistance for children having trouble learning.She is an adjunct professor at Western Oregon University’s School of Education and was assistant principal at North Albany Middle School. She has a doctorate in education leadership from the University of Oregon.
Both districts have named as finalists candidates from the Winston Dillard School District in Winston, near Roseburg.Michael Narkiewicz, a Sweet Home finalist, is principal of Brockway Elementary School in Winston. He has been director of Human Resources and School Improvement and has previously served as an elementary principal in Riddle and a high school prinipal and special education director in Bandon.Narkiewicz has a Master of Science degree in health education from Southern Oregon University with administration coursework at both Portland State University and Lewis & Clark College.
Brian Gardner, a Central Linn finalist, is a high school principal in Winston. Previously, he worked in the central office of the Lincoln County School District and taught in the Hillsboro School District.He has a master’s degree in teaching and a bachelor’s degree in business, both from Pacific University, and has taken education leadership coursework at Concordia University.
Central Linn also is considering Matthew Shorb of Powers, south of Myrtle Point. Shorb has been superintendent of the Powers School District since 2005 and served as high school principal for three years.He has a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science in communications, both from Southern Oregon University.
Sweet Home also has named Don Schrader, superintendent of the Glide School District, which is 20 miles east of Roseburg. Schrader has been superintendent since 2005 and also served as special education director and curriculum director. Previously, he was an elementary school principal, a middle school principal and a high school assistant principal in the Sutherlin School District. Schrader has a Master of Education from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Science in teaching from 麻豆传媒社区入口 — Hayward.
