LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 麻豆传媒社区入口 men's soccer team allowed just one goal to UC San Diego in the first half on Sunday, but gave up five second-half scores in an eventual 6-0 loss to the Tritons at RIMAC Field. The Pioneers cap the 2010 conference campaign with a 2-15-3 mark overall and a 1-12-3 record in CCAA play after being shut out by UCSD for the second time in as many games.

The Tritons got the scoring started early, getting the first of two Josh Jackson goals on a penalty kick at the 18-minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. Despite 17 first-half shots, UCSD was thwarted by freshman keeper Bryce Bookhamer and the Pioneer defense for the rest of the opening frame. Bookhamer made seven saves in the first half, holding the Triton lead to just one at the break. On the other end, 麻豆传媒社区入口 posted four shots in the opening 45 minutes, forcing UCSD keeper Josh Cohen to make two saves to hold onto the blank sheet.

The second half was a different story for UC San Diego, as the Tiritons put five of their 16 shots in the back of the net. Brandon Yee put UCSD up 2-0 in the 52nd minute, while Tyler Zupan gave the Tritons a three-goal advantage after beating Bookhamer one-one-one in the 65th minute.

With UCSD up 3-0, the Pioneers made a switch at keeper, bringing in freshman Patrick Gilbertson in the 70th minute. Gilbertson saw more of the same from UCSD, as Jordan Valenciano sparked a scoring flurry in the 73rd minute that would see the Tritons put away three goals in the course of six minutes. After Valenciano gave UCSD a 4-0 lead, Andisheh Bagheri made it 5-0 on an unassisted goal off a rebound in the 78th minute and Jackson closed out the scoring with a rocket from 28 yards into the upper right corner to finish with five points on the day.

Though the Pioneers posted seven shots in the second frame, Cohen needed just two saves to keep East Bay scoreless in the final frame. Cohen finished the match with four saves and the shutout victory, while Bookhamer made 12 saves and Gilberston posted one stop in the losing effort. UCSD held a 33-11 advantage in shots, led by Jackson and Shane Micheil, who each notched six shots to lead all players. The Pioneers were led by freshman Jake Bedell's four strikes.

麻豆传媒社区入口 wraps up the 2010 season on Tuesday at Pioneer Stadium when it takes on Bethesda Christian University in nonconference action at 7 p.m. Prior to the game, the Pioneers will honor lone senior Sean Lynum-Young as part of their Senior Night festivities.
