Cal State LA got things going almost immediately in the first half and never looked back. Just over a minute into the match, the Golden Eagles got on the board with a Liz Franco goal.

Leading 1-0, Cal State LA continued to control play and built momentum before Ann Marie Tangora finished on a cross from Franco to beat East Bay keeper Nina Cefalo for the second goal of the game in the 28th minute. TheBrentwood native tried to take advantage, but had her shot blocked by the Golden Eagle defense.

East Bay had another late chance when Falk took a free kick from 30 yards out on the left side. Her attempt found Zuly Diaz' head, but Walworth made the save this time, maintaining the first-half shutout and sending the Golden Eagles to the half with a 4-0 lead.

East Bay forced Walworth to make two saves and kept the Golden Eagles off the board over the next 27 minutes, but Segall dropped her defender again in the 83rd minute and put away her second of the game in another one-on-one with Cefalo to round out the scoring.

A last-minute attempt from freshman Katie Brawley forced Cal State LA reserve keeper Jessica Gerski to make a save in the final five minutes of the match to maintain the shutout.

The Golden Eagles were led by Segall and Ohberg, who each notched five points on two goals and an assist, while Franco finished the game with four points on a goal and two assists.
