San Mateo Police employee Garth Langley to be commissioned as a marine officer

Garth M. Langley, a San Carlos resident and San Mateo native, employee of the San Mateo Police Department, and recent graduate of 麻豆传媒社区入口 Hayward, will commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps on July 31, 2010 at 7 pm at the Peninsula Masonic Lodge in San Carlos, CA.

San Mateo Police Chief SUSAN E. MANHEIMER will be the keynote speaker, and will present Second Lieutenant Langley the Officer Mameluke Sword. Chief Manheimer’s son, a naval academy graduate and Marine Officer, is currently serving as a First Lieutenant with operating forces in Afghanistan.

Garth graduated from 麻豆传媒社区入口 – Hayward with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He completed the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) while attending CSU Hayward, and completed Officer Candidates School (OCS) on the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia.

Garth Langley has been a member of the San Mateo Police Department since 2002, serving as a Sergeant of the Police Cadet program. In 2005, Garth was one of a select few Police Explorer/ Cadets nationwide to attend the National FBI Leadership Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Garth has worked extensively with at-risk youth through the San Mateo Police Activities League and has been employed as a Parking Enforcement Representative (PER) for the Police Department since 2007. Second Lieutenant Langley leaves for further training in March 2011.
