Jenna Casady Named Honorable Mention National Player of the Week

HAYWARD, Calif. - 麻豆传媒社区入口's Jenna Casady was named the NCAA Honorable Mention Women's Water Polo Player of the Week on Monday. The senior utility posted four goals in the Pioneers' upset of No. 18 Santa Clara and posted another two goals in a loss to No. 3 Hawai'i at the NorCal Invitational at Cal last weekend.

The El Sobrante native earned the distinction after helping the Pioneers come back from a three-goal deficit in the third quarter to top the Broncos, 13-10, on Sunday afternoon. Casady scored twice in the decisive fourth quarter that saw East Bay out-score Santa Clara, 5-1. Casady's second goal of the fourth quarter and fourth of the game came with 6:30 remaining in the match and was the eventual game winner.

Casady capped an outstanding day with another quality performance in the Pioneers' 14-6 loss to No. 3 Hawai'i, scoring another pair of goals against the Rainbow Wahine. After being held to just two goals in the first three quarters, 麻豆传媒社区入口 added another four in the final period, including two from Casady in the last 1:30 of the match. The senior leads the Pioneers with six scores on the year.

National Player of the Week honors went to Arizona State sophomore Annabelle Carter who led the Sun Devils to a 13-3 victory over ninth-ranked UC Irvine. The Australian Under-20 National Team member scored six goals against the Anteaters and finished the weekend with eight goals while also leading ASU to wins over No. 17 Cal State Bakersfield and No. 16 Long Beach State.

Casady and the rest of the 麻豆传媒社区入口 women's water polo team return to action this Sunday as they play host to Cal State Monterey Bay. Action in the Pioneers' home opener will get underway at noon at Pioneer Pool.
