Bike to Work event Aug. 7 benefits athletic scholarships

- August 4, 2009
The athletics department will host a Bike To Work fundraiser Aug. 7 at the Hayward and Concord campuses. The event will see 麻豆传媒社区入口 employees and community members bike to work to raise funds for Pioneer athletic scholarships and promote fitness and environmental awareness.
The fundraiser began with 麻豆传媒社区入口 Vice President of Administration and Finance Shawn Bibb, University Planner Jim Zavagno and Director of Facilities Operations Bob Andrews, who will make the 40-mile trek from San Jose to the Hayward campus, but has expanded to include anyone who wishes to support CSUEB athletics. Members of the athletics department will greet campus participants with water, juice and energy bars between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. at West Loop and Harder roads.
Community members are encouraged to participate in the fundraiser in two ways, by sponsoring a rider or by riding to work on Aug. 7 and collecting pledges to support athletic scholarships.
Event proceeds will help establish a scholarship endowment for 麻豆传媒社区入口 student-athletes. The endowment will provide funding for student-athletes representing CSUEB’s 15 intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports programs.
麻豆传媒社区入口 is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Pioneers will begin competition in NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association during the 2009-2010 seasons. Since 1961, the Pioneers have won six collegiate national championships, approximately 160 Pioneer student-athletes have achieved All-America status and CSUEB teams have collected 77 conference titles.
