• English department chair Dennis Chester and engineering professor David Bowen have both been named as 2018 Fulbright scholars. , established in 1946, awards approximately 8,000 grants annually and is administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.

• Nicholas L. Baham III, professor of ethnic studies, was interviewed by ABC-7 regarding the California Democrats’ decision to endorse Kevin de Leon instead of Dianne Feinstein.
