麻豆传媒社区入口 nursing and health sciences lecturer Stephen J. Morewitz, recently won two San Jose State University Faculty Author awards for his books, “Runaway and Homeless Youth: New Research and Clinical Perspectives” and “Handbook of Missing Persons.”

The first, analyzes risk factors for homeless and runaway youth including their social, health, police, court and social services outcomes. The second, which Morewitz co-edited with Dr. Caroline Sturdy Colls of Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom, focuses on the science, forensics, politics and ethics involved in responding to missing persons cases. Topics include secondary victimization, privacy issues, DNA identification and the challenges of finding victims of war and genocide.

Morewitz said he hopes the books will help medical professionals access new ideas, collaborate with colleagues and handle missing persons cases with greater efficiency.

Along with teaching at CSUEB, Morewitz founded the Forensic Social Sciences Association, an international and interdisciplinary organization, in 2014. He is an award-winning author or co-author/editor of 12 books and more than 100 other publications. This is the second time he’s been awarded the SJSU Faculty Author Award, the first he received in 2014 for his book “Handbook of Forensic Sociology and Psychology.”
